About the event

Join us for a very special Saturday afternoon when you will make treasure.  On offer is anything from our 'Ready-mades range'  to amazing sculptural lampshades, beautiful wooden vases, small useful containers or you could just go for pure sculpture - AND plenty of Christmas fun too including mince pies and the option to make 10 small gifts or a collection of fabulous Christmas decorations.  When you arrive we give you a mini-masterclass in steam-bending and you can choose to follow some of our designs or make your own unique creation to wow your friends.  Whichever option you go for expect to leave with a box of eco-friendly Christmassy treats for the home. Please note:  All items from the 'Ready-Mades' section can be recreated in a maker session, except the Curlyshade which requires two maker sessions due to it's complexity. Why do a Maker Session? Luxury goods exist to make us happier, improve our lives, and by investing alittle of your own time in the creation of these exclusive Charlie Whinney Studio/you collaborations we believe you get the maximum benefits.  Be it something for your home or a present for a loved one, when you have seen something born under your own hands and it is perfect, then it instantly becomes an heirloom; treasures which will only improve with age, you creation will embody a time and memory and will transcend fashion. 'Maker Sessions’ are a concept and artwork by Charlie Whinney, and by taking part you will be collaboration in his practice which include over 100 projects and installaitions around the world including large scale permanent installationsincluding notable works in China, Japan, Singapore, Europe and USA.  Charlie returns to where he started working on sustainable product design.  These products are a tiny step in the right direction in terms of how our ‘luxury needs’ should be fulfilled in the future, in the context of our changing world and climate.    * Workshop cancellations by you* We try our best to price our workshops as fairly as possible and offer good value for money. We therefore have to have a clear cancellation policy to ensure that we cover our costs and the ongoing viability of the workshop. We urge you to carefully check your diary to ensure that you are available to attend any workshops you are booking with us.  If circumstances change, or something pops up and you are unable to attend, unfortunately all our workshops and classes are non-refundable and transfers can only be arranged under the circumstances outlined below..  If you give more than 30 working days notice to cancel a place on a one day or half-day workshop your options are as follows: • We will be happy to transfer you to another workshop only if the original place is successfully resold. If the place does not resell then unfortunately we cannot supply you with another place on a future course date. • You can of course send someone in your place at any time, but please note that this is your responsibility to find a replacement person and you must let us know in advance who will be attending. We will do our best to fill the place within this time. Please be aware that in our experience it can be difficult to fill places on workshops at short notice.
